about

Greater Lanarkshire Auricular Research Council (GLARC) release their first cassette of 2022, an album of spellbinding vocal improvisation and minimalism by Norweigan duo Propan, entitled Loom.

Propan was founded in 2011 by vocalists Ina Sagstuen and Natali Abrahamsen Garner. They have toured widely throughout the world, including Japan, Australia, USA and Europe. Loom
(GLARC 2022) is their third release, following Baby (Va Fongool 2016), Trending (SOFA 2019). Propan’s fourth album, SWAGGER (Sofa, 2022) will be released in august 2022. With Loom Propan go out to discover a more meditative state within their musical universe. The duo have abandoned their setup of vocals and effects, and instead focus on specific sounds from percussion instruments, glass and ceramics - using these as new building blocks together with their recognizable voice work, resulting in a singular and beguiling set of experimentations. The 16 pieces are all semi-composed improvisations, layered in time, where timbre, texture, rhythm and form become layers in a sonic weaving.

Loom is released as a limited edition cassette release, with artwork by Magnus Skavhaug Nergaard and Natali Abrahamsen Garner and a cover photo by Kristina D. Aas. An accompanying text is by Glasgow based artist Romy Danielewicz.
